At the first UK Robot Ethics workshop on 25th March 2013, Alan Winfield offered - for discussion - the proposition that robotics is facing a Crisis of Expectations. And not for the first time. He argues that one possible consequence is (another) AI winter.

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory Zurich the University of Zurich presents Robots On Tour: World Congress & Exhibition of Robots, Humanoids, Cyborgs and more. It will take place on 8th (only for schools) and 9th (public exhibition with approx. 4'000 visitors) March 2013 in Zurich, Switzerland. Over 40 robots from all over the world such as AFFETTO, iCub, Armar, PR-2 and Cornell Ranger will be presented to the broad audience. World-class speakers such as Rodney Brooks will be attending and as an additional highlight, the AI Lab will unveil its new robot Roboy.

RobotDoC Robotics Research Methods Workshop
This is the first training event of the Marie Curie ITN "RobotDoC: Robotics for Developmento of Cognition" (in Plymouth UK). This workshop will provide PhD students with a series of lectures and hands-on workshops on Research Methods.
This event will begin on the 9th of March 2010 and end on the 11th of March 2010.
The workshop syllabus will include courses/tutorials on general robotics research methods: (i) ethics in experimental research, (ii) literature review, (iii) experimental design, (iv) data analysis and basic statistics, (v) results description and analyses and (v) English for academic writing. The workshop will also include the initial training on the robotics platform iCub, and machine learning techniques.
