Neural Dynamics Approach to Cognitive Robotics: A Hands-on Summer School

Neural dynamics is one route along which a link between natural and artificial embodied cognition can be established. The neural grounding of this language makes it attractive to psychologists and neuroscientists, while its macroscopic nature, capacity to deal with sensor and effectors, and capacity to realize larger architectures makes is attractive to the cognitive scientist. Cognitive robotics based on neural dynamics may play a dual role, that of a reality check on neuronal accounts of natural embodied cognition, but also that of a serious proposal for how artificial embodied cognitive systems can be built.

The school thus addresses core issues of cognitive systems research and bridges cognitive systems to robotics and cognitive science.
